Dr. Gell worked with the US Air Force General's in the Command Center and with the Rand Corporation.

Dr. Gell was in the SAC Command Center when Francis Gary Powers was shot down over Russia on May 1, 1960.

"The SAC Headquarters sits up on a hill and along side the Missouri River. I will never forget seeing the migrating birds from Canada traveling south and north each year. They would appear on the northern horizon, fly up over the SAC Headquarters and dissapear on the southern horizon. It would be one long continuous stream of birds for hours."
